The Lake District is one of the leading destinations for dog lovers in the UK. We love to share our home and walks with our dogs, so naturally welcome guests and their dogs when they stay at Lowfield House.
We are pleased to announce that we are working with Dog Friendly Destinations.
Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along. For a normal group booking we assume up to two medium-sized (Labrador size) dogs for their stay at Lowfield House, but we are happy to consider additional numbers or larger breeds by agreement.
All dogs are welcome but must be house trained and not chewers. We had a bad experience once where two German Shepherds tried to eat the house (literally - skirtings, plasterwork and rugs) as a result there is now a security/damage deposit of £1000 which is taken just before your stay and refunded shortly after you leave. Since the house eaters incident in 2019, we are pleased to say that we haven’t had to levy a damage charge and it goes to show how well behaved and respectful the vast majority of our four-legged guests are. Any requirements can be discussed with our letting agent – Wheelwrights.
On arrival your dogs will find their own complimentary 'Welcome Pack' consisting of dog treats, poo bags and chew/toy. We also provide stainless steel Water and feed bowls along with dog towels for wiping dirty paws or drying off after some wild swimming.
Dog beds, food and other items are very personal things to both barking mad owners and individual dogs so please bring your own beds and food etc.
Dogs are allowed free roam of the house where there is slate flooring but request they are kept out of bedrooms unless they are guide or hearing dogs. At night or If dogs need to be left in the house unattended for any reason they can be shut into the kitchen or Utility room areas, with their beds toys and chews.
Lowfield House has plenty of space, both inside and out. With three quarters of an acre garden and dog-proof perimeter fencing it’s safe to just open the door and let them run while you have your morning coffee and enjoy the views.
Creature comforts – for after those lovely long walks, we have provided an external warm water tap with handheld shower for washing down muddy dogs and dog towels for drying down. We draw the line at hairdryers. 😉
Within the area, there are many ‘Dog Friendly’ Pubs and Restaurants.
Due to extensive sheep grazing and the natural habitat of the Lake District there is I high likelihood of you dogs picking up sheep Ticks, so we recommend that your dogs are fully vaccinated, and Tick treated. It is the responsibility of owners to clear up after their dogs at Lowfield as well as when out walking and remember to dispose of Poo Bags responsibly.
We hope your dogs are well behaved and enjoy their stay at Lowfield House.
